0x9000

Dear JavaCard programmers out there,
Many of you have visited my blog during the years looking for information about the JCOP21 smart card and the GPShell command line tool for JavaCard Applet transfer. I guess I've disappointed you since I don't write much about smart cards anymore, and when I did, it was in Swedish. So, now I've found a blog that you can visit instead. It's called
0x9000, which is hilarious if you're a smart card programmer. (It means no error, used by the card in those rare occasions when no error occur. ;) If you have any questions about GPShell scripts, JCOP cards (hint: if you have the possibility, use them together with the IBM JCOP Tools, a very useful Eclipse plug-in) and frameworks, feel free to ask. Otherwise, here are some general advice and opinions from me: If you've got a newer card such as JCOP21 - use the GlobalPlatform framework, not the older OpenPlatform. Also make sure that you use the version of GlobalPlatform that your card supports. (Don't even think about using OCF unless you use a very old card.) ...and yes, Java is platform independent and so on, but nothing will work if you try to run applets built using the wrong version of JavaCard. It's a bit tricky with the compatibility of all the different tools and frameworks, but I promise it will be fun when you get it up and running. Happy coding! :)
/Kaprifol - who has written a few JavaCard applets but has much more to learn. :)

Jag är väl ingen smartkortsprogrammerare direkt, men många där ute verkar tro det eftersom jag exjobbade med smarta kort en gång i tiden. Det är inlägget är till dem.
